Farmers market set for Aug. 21

The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is piloting a Farmers Market for faculty, staff, families and the community on Aug. 21 where locally grown fruits and vegetables will be available for purchase.

The market will be on the corner of Pierce Avenue and 23rd Avenue and will take place from 3-7 p.m.

“As a parent, one of the toughest things is making sure that we provide healthy, nutritious meals for our families,” said Mary Kate Mouser, director of Vanderbilt Children's Health Improvement and Prevention. “Children's Hospital and the many individuals and departments at Vanderbilt and in the community who have been helping over the last six months on the concept of an on-site Farmers Market at Vanderbilt feel that this will make it easier.”

The market is part of Vanderbilt's Farm to Hospital program in partnership with the Nashville Farmers Market, Food Security Partners, Health Plus and Aramark Corp.
