Former faculty member Slaton dies

Dr. Paul E. Slaton Jr., a 1957 graduate of the School of Medicine and a longtime faculty member in the division of Endocrinology, died Saturday, Oct. 14. He was 68.

Dr. Slaton came to Vanderbilt in 1969. Before joining Vanderbilt’s faculty, Dr. Slaton wa s a member of the faculty at the University of California School of Medicine and assistant director of the Clinical Study Center at San Francisco General Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn C. Slaton; children Paul E. Slaton III, of Tennessee Ridge, Tenn., Susan S. Bailey, of Nashville, J. Keene Slaton, of Nashville, and Joel W. Slaton of Minneapolis; sister Mary S. Suddarth of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 17 at St. George’s Episcopal Church.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Vanderbilt School of Medicine.
