Dr. Deborah C. German, senior associate dean for Medical Education, has been named president and CEO of Saint Thomas Hospital, and senior vice president and chief academic officer for the Saint Thomas Health Services system. She assumes the position Dec. 1.

“It’s rare to have the opportunity to move from one extraordinary institution to another in the same city. I see great potential to build stronger bridges between the two institutions,” said German, who has been at Vanderbilt since 1988. “Saint Thomas is a hospital known for excellence and compassionate care, the core values we have been teaching to our medical students. I am honored to have this opportunity.”
