Giuse lands service award from Meharry

Nunzia Giuse, M.D., M.L.S., professor of Biomedical Informatics and director of Eskind Biomedical Library, has received the President's Meritorious Service Award from Meharry Medical College, presented last week during the college's Fall Convocation.

The award comes at the midpoint of a five-year Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance initiative to assist modernization of the Meharry Library.

“This award is truly a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our entire team at Eskind,” Giuse said.

Giuse received word of the award in a recent letter from Meharry President and CEO Wayne Riley, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A.

“Dr. Giuse, you answered the call when asked to lead the renaissance of the Meharry Medical College Library.

“You and your team of professionals rolled up your collective sleeves and worked smart and hard to implement operational changes,” Riley wrote.

“Among other things, you enhanced the staff's skills, invigorated the intellectual climate, implemented a digital library for students that exceeded their expectations, and expanded the research horizons for clinicians and basic scientists.”
