Aravind Babu, a second-year graduate student in the Neuroscience program and member of Randy Blakely’s lab, died Saturday at Vanderbilt University Hospital after sustaining head injuries in an automobile accident two weeks ago near Knoxville.
His wife, Aparna Gupta, a member of the Cancer Biology program, was in the accident, but was not injured. Babu’s father, mother and sister traveled from India to be with him in the hospital.
A memorial service was held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Sunday. A fund has been established for those wishing to contribute to family needs. Contact Mary Michael, Center for Molecular Neuroscience, 936-3037 to contribute to the fund.
