A team of 16 surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, residents and staff will travel to Guatemala on Sept. 19 to perform urologic surgeries on pediatric patients.
The trip marks the fifth time faculty and staff from the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt will travel to Guatemala to perform surgeries through a partnership with The Shalom Foundation.
The team anticipates performing a variety of urologic procedures during their weeklong stay.
John Pope, M.D., associate professor of Urologic Surgery and Pediatrics, and Chris Lemelle, M.D., assistant professor of Clinical Anesthesiology, are co-team leaders.
