Health disparities focus of next Discovery Lecture
Neil Powe, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., will address health care disparities at next week's Discovery Lecture.
His talk, "Health and Health Care Disparities: Causes, Consequences and the Will to Conquer,” will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, in 208 Light Hall.
Powe is the University Distinguished Service Professor of Medicine, director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research, and the deputy director of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He was elected to the Institute of Medicine in 2003.
A clinician and epidemiologist, Powe has addressed the use and misuse of medical therapies and devices, health care outcomes and disparities in patterns of care. His research on kidney disease outcomes has catalyzed the rigorous evaluation of chronic kidney disease.
