Features — 41,000-square-foot facility, located between the A and B wings of Medical Center North, will house a 7 tesla magnet, one of the world's most powerful imaging research magnets.

Parking Garage (formerly Medical Center South)
Construction start — summer 2006
Expected completion — fall 2007
Cost — $25.5 million
Features — Medical Center South was torn down to make way for the much-needed new garage. This project will add a six-level garage on the Medical Center South site and a two-level expansion to the existing Clinic Garage (renamed Central Garage last September). This project also includes the four-level expansion of the East Garage behind Oxford House. This combined expansion will add 1,000 cars to VUMC's capacity.

Godchaux Hall renovations

Cost — $7.2 million
Features — First major overhaul in 30 years of the interior of the VUSN building, and features completely renovated office, research and clinical space. The heating and air conditioning systems, plumbing and electrical systems have all been replaced. Other work has included installing a sprinkler and fire system and electronic card access to the building.

Features — The 11-story tower would be built atop VUH's Emergency Department, and would add a net of 141 additional acute-care beds as well as several new operating suites.
