Harry R. Jacobson, M.D., vice chancellor for Health Affairs, has been named chairman of the Nashville Health Care Council for 2004-05. He succeeds Thomas G. Cigarran, chairman of American Healthways.

“The Health Care Council has become an important catalyst for growth in Nashville’s dynamic health care community,” Jacobson said. “I’m looking forward to working with other industry leaders to foster a supportive business environment for existing and start up companies, to increase support for the next generation of health care leaders and entrepreneurs, and to further raise Nashville’s profile as the capital of the nation’s health care industry.”

The Health Care Council, founded in 1995, is an association of health care industry leaders working to further establish Nashville’s position as the nation’s health care industry capital. n
