Dr. Harry R. Jacobson, vice chancellor for Health Affairs, was recently appointed to chair the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation by United States Secretary of Education Rod Paige.

The committee evaluates the standards of accreditation applied to foreign medical schools and determines if they are comparable to those for U.S. medical schools.

Jacobson will chair the committee through Sept. 30, 2004.
