Kaye named interim Radiology chair

Jeremy Kaye, M.D., has been appointed interim chair of the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, effective July 1.

He succeeds Martin Sandler, M.D., who was recently named to the new role of associate vice chancellor for Hospital Affairs (see June 9 Reporter).

Kaye has been vice-chair of the department since 2000. He previously headed two different departments in New York while serving as director of the department of Radiology at the Hospital for Special Surgery, which is part of the Cornell University complex, and also as chairman of Radiology for St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan, which is affiliated with New York Medical College.

“I am very honored to have been selected to be the interim chair,” Kaye said. “And I hope to continue the very strong track record built in the department by Dr. Sandler, with excellent clinical service, research and teaching.”

Sandler said VUMC is fortunate to have someone as capable as Kaye leading as interim chair.

“Jeremy Kaye is an outstanding clinical radiologist and teacher, as well as having had extensive administrative experience,” he said.
