Kripalani chosen as one of first Fellows in Hospital Medicine

Sunil Kripalani, M.D., M.Sc., chief of Hospital Medicine, and associate director of the Effective Health Communication Program in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health, has been chosen to the inaugural class of Fellows in Hospital Medicine (FHM).

Kripalani joins a select group that includes only 2 percent of the nation’s hospitalists. An inaugural member of FHM, Kripalani was selected to a class with many of the discipline’s pioneers.

“I'm very honored to be elected to the inaugural class of fellows. I have greatly enjoyed focusing my academic career on research and education in the growing field of Hospital Medicine. However, it's also quite humbling to be among the ‘founding fathers’ of our field,” said Kripalani.

Kripalani earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Emory University before coming to Vanderbilt in 2007. Among his professional accomplishments, Kripalani has authored numerous books, peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He is a deputy editor of the Journal of Hospital Medicine and an associate editor of Hospital Medicine Secrets.
