Lee to lead Children’s Ambulatory Services

Christopher Lee has been named the associate Vanderbilt Medical Group director for Children's Ambulatory Services.

In his new role, Lee will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing operational strategies, support systems and programs to ensure the continued development and success of clinic-based children's services.

Lee will work with the chief executive officer and administrative staff of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, the surgeon in chief, and chair of Pediatrics to ensure coordination of clinic based services with the hospital and faculty.

“As with Children's Hospital, Vanderbilt's outpatient children's enterprise is growing and becoming more complex in not only the Doctors' Office Tower but off campus as well,” said David Posch, chief executive officer of The Vanderbilt Clinic and executive director of VMG. “Williamson County is growing and soon One Hundred Oaks will open. Numerous other opportunities exist.

“We are pleased Chris will be joining us. He is a seasoned administrator in children's services from an academic background at MCG. We look forward to his leadership and participation with the rest of the Children's team in further developing our already outstanding capabilities.”

Added Kevin Churchwell, M.D., chief executive officer of Children's Hospital, “We are very excited about Chris's arrival. I know his abilities and talents are going to greatly enhance our planning and operation of our outpatient clinics and physician outreach.”

Lee previously served as administrative director from MCG Health Inc. in Augusta, Ga. He received master's degrees in Business Administration and Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

“After a very exhaustive search he was clearly our choice to help lead this very important Children's Hospital interest. I am absolutely certain that he will do a terrific job, and all of us in surgery look forward to working with Chris in his new role,” said John Brock III, M.D., director of the Division of Pediatric Urology and Surgeon-in-Chief.

Layle Kenyon, director of Operations for the Children's Hospital Outpatient Center, served as associate VMG director for Children's Ambulatory Services on an interim basis prior to Lee's arrival.
