Leutgens named assistant hospital director

Wendy Leutgens has been named assistant hospital director for Clinical Services Access, effective March 11, 2002.

Prior to joining Vanderbilt last year as manager of the Cancer Clinic and Breast Center working with Carol Eck, Leutgens was director of Clinical and Administrative Operations at Phycor Inc. in Nashville and chief operating officer of Phycor in Wilmington, N.C.

Leutgens was also the medical unit director for New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington and with the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco. She has extensive project management experience and is skilled in implementing operational change. Leutgens holds a B.S.N. degree from East Carolina University and an M.S.N. degree from the University of North Carolina.

In her new role at Vanderbilt University Hospital, Leutgens will be responsible for managing all functions related to access and discharge of VUH patients and the creation of a new patient and physician responsive model from first contact to the appropriate venue for continuity of care.
