Meador's community service recognized

Clifton Meador, M.D., executive director of the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance, will receive the first Community Health Leadership Award from the Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee.

The award, which also has been named in Meador's honor, was created to honor individuals who make outstanding contributions to the health of the community, particularly the poor and uninsured.

Meador was chosen by the consortium's board of directors to recognize his pivotal leadership in the development and continuing success of the Bridges to Care and Bridges to Care Plus programs, and to honor Meador's long and distinguished service to the healing arts.

According to the board, Meador “epitomizes both leadership in the field of medicine and commitment to serving all persons in the community.”
