MLK lecture to feature Satcher
Robert Satcher Jr., M.D., Ph.D., an orthopaedic surgeon and NASA astronaut, will be the featured speaker at this year's Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Satcher's talk, entitled “Fulfilling the Dream: Minorities in Biosciences,” will be presented Monday, Jan. 17, at noon in 208 Light Hall.
Satcher, a professor at University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center's Department of Orthopaedic Oncology, received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from MIT and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He specializes in cancers of the bone. Satcher is an astronaut who served as a crew member on the 31st space shuttle flight to the international space station in 2009.
The lecture is free and open to the public and is presented by Vanderbilt's School of Nursing and School of Medicine in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Series.
