A new Medical Center advertising campaign based around the theme “Asking is the Answer” will begin airing on local television stations April 15.
The new ads, which will extend the concept of the Hearts and Minds ads that have represented the Medical Center for several years, will begin airing on channels 2, 4, and 5, said Amy Brunson, marketing manager for VUMC. They were previewed for Medical Center staff and faculty at a screening in Light Hall April 11.
“The theme ‘Asking is the Answer’ is about empowerment,” Brunson said. “Asking the best questions to improve patient care, and also encouraging patients to ask questions of us.”
In addition to four separate TV spots, there will also be radio and print advertisements with the same theme.
To keep staff and faculty aware of the campaign and its themes, posters will be displayed in high-traffic areas of the Medical Center and a brochure will be mailed to homes, Brunson said.
She praised staff and faculty for their flexibility and patience during the filming of the ads.
“We needed the help of a lot of people to make the filming work,” Brunson said. “We filmed all over the Medical Center, the schedule was changed at the last minute, and people just bent over backward to help.”
Among the areas where filming occurred were the Clinical Research Center, the Center for Health Services, the Eskind Biomedical Library, and LifeFlight.
The ads were directed by noted commercial filmmaker Marcus Nispel, and were produced by Lewis Communications in Birmingham, the same firm that produced the Hearts and Minds ads.
