A faculty and staff gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) group has formed for Vanderbilt University and Medical Center employees.
The new group, operating under the Office of GLBT Life, is designed to create social opportunities for GLBT faculty and staff. There have been groups specifically for undergraduate and graduate students, but nothing specifically for faculty and staff.
“It’s a way for us to build community among the people on campus who are gay or lesbian,” explained Don Schlosser, one of the organizers.
Schlosser, who is an editorial assistant III in the Biochemistry department, said the group would meet at least three times a year, and an e-mail list would be formed to “help keep people connected on campus.”
The group has already had one event, a breakfast on the morning of Nashville’s Pride Celebration. A wine and cheese reception has been planned for late August.
For more information contact Schlosser by e-mail at don.schlosser@vanderbilt.edu or by phone at 343-4540. More information on campus GLBT activities can be found at the Web site www.vanderbilt.edu/glbt.
