Steroid study needs volunteers

Are you currently taking oral steroid tablets such as prednisone? If you are at least 21 years old and have been taking at least 7.5 milligrams per day for at least three months, you may qualify for an investigational study to examine bone density loss often associated with prolonged steroid use.

The study is comparing two medications currently approved for use in osteoporosis and is hoped to increase formation of new bone and increase bone strength. Study-related examinations and study medications are provided. You will also be compensated for your time. Call the Vanderbilt Asthma, Sinus and Allergy Program’s research staff at 936-5764 for more information.
