Lou Rawls concert benefits Vanderbilt research facility

Recording artist Lou Rawls will perform Sept. 6 at the BellSouth Acuff Theater at Opryland at 8 p.m.

The concert event will benefit the Neonatal Research Facility at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine in its continuing research for the prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Tickets, available through the theater, are $85 and $175 for VIP seating. Call 871-6779 for tickets.

Softball tourney needs players

A faculty/staff co-rec slow-pitch softball tournament will be held Thursday, Sept. 19 and, if necessary, Sept. 26 as part of the Employee Celebration Month activities.

Family members ages 16 and older may participate with Vanderbilt faculty and staff. The Office of Campus Recreation softball rules will apply, including that teams must have at least four women in the lineup at all times. The tournament champion will receive a trophy and prizes.

Employee Celebration committee seeks talent for monthlong events

Staff or faculty members who have talent they’d like to share with coworkers can become a part of the Employee Celebration Month, to be held throughout September. Singers, those who play a musical instrument, as well as dancers, magicians, or pie plate-spinners are eligible.
