Donna Mason

Mason elected to Emergency Nursing Association board

Donna L. Mason has been elected to the board of directors for the Emergency Nursing Association (ENA). She will begin a three-year term on Jan. 1.

Mason is the manager of the Adult Emergency department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has more than 20 years experience in the field of emergency nursing.

The ENA is the national association for professional nurses dedicated to the advancement of emergency nursing practice.

“ENA assists all nurses in emergency care settings and others in understanding the function, importance and impact of the role of emergency nurses through its professional publications, legislative updates and public relations activities regarding emergency nursing issues,” Mason said. “I’m proud to have been elected by my fellow emergency nurses from across the county.”

Ford named HHH Volunteer of the Year

Carlos Ford, assistant director of Client and Community Relations, has been named Volunteer of the Year at the Hospital Hospitality House of Nashville, where he has served on the board of directors for about seven years.

HHH serves patients’ families from across the region and the country by providing an affordable place to stay when a patient undergoes extensive medical care at Vanderbilt and other Nashville hospitals.

Hix named manager

of Pediatric Emergency

Sue Hix has accepted the position as manager of the Pediatric Emergency department.

Serving as interim manager for the department since June 1, Hix has seven years experience as an NICU staff nurse, ECMO specialist and manager of the ECMO team since January 1996.

“Sue's management and leadership skills and her commitment to providing excellent care will continue to benefit patients, families and staff,” said Terrell Smith, VCH Administrative Director.
