Yang Award
Dr. Elizabeth Yang, assistant professor of Pediatric Hematology, was awarded a $65,000 grant from Pfizer Inc.
The grant will allow Yang to continue her research into apoptosis and cell cycles until the year 2000.
The Pfizer Scholars Program for New Faculty for two years for physician scientists to pursue original research in medicine.
Playground
Joey Qualls of Pathology is involved in a community project in Fairview to build a playground, and volunteers are needed to help.
The Treehouse Playground will constructed at Bowie Nature Park April 14-18. More than 1,000 volunteers are needed to build this 15,000-square-foot playground, which was designed by the Ithaca, N.Y., architectural firm of Leathers and Associates.
