Dr. David N. Orth, professor of Medicine and professor of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, was elected president of the Endocrine Society at its 78th annual meeting in June. The Endocrine Society, with 9,000 members, hosted the 10th International Congress of Endocrinology in conjunction with its meeting in San Francisco.

Dr. Orth also received the Distinguished Service to Pituitary Research Award, the highest award of the Pituitary Society at their annual meeting in San Diego.

Dr. Alan Boyd, assistant professor of Medical Dermatology, was conferred the Dermatologic Education and Recognition of Mentorship (DERM) award, which is voted on by the residents in Dermatology.

Applications for pilot projects in nutrition funded by the Clinical Nutrition Research Unit (CNRU) are now available for 1997.

The deadline for submission is October 18. Information regarding eligibility criteria and applications can be obtained from the CNRU office at 3-7740.

The Eskind Biomedical Library has named Patricia Lee as Coordinator of Consultation Services. Previously, she was Information Services Librarian for the University of Cincinnati Health Sciences Library.

The Psychiatric Hospital at Vanderbilt named Ann Cross M.S.N., M.B.A. as director of Patient Care Services. Cross was formerly director of outpatient services at Columbia Centennial Parthenon Pavilion.
