Nominations sought for Risk Management Awards

The Department of Risk Management is accepting nominations for its third annual Risk Management Awards.

Applications can be submitted through Sept. 30, and the awards will be presented at a ceremony in October.

The awards recognize and reward VMC employees who have implemented significant changes in processes to improve patient care and safety, and are given in four categories: employee, attending/fellow, nurse and house staff.

Winners receive a cash prize and certificate.

Nominees must have been employed at VMC for at least 12 months, and can be described by one or more of the following criteria:

• Regularly and consistently strives to improve patient care and safety, reflecting a high level of leadership, service, dedication, conscientiousness, compassion and applied skill

• Strives to identify areas of potential improvement related to patient care and safety

• Has developed new, or has improved existing, processes that have resulted in a significant improvement in patient care and safety

• Is community-minded and supportive of Vanderbilt's mission to provide the highest quality education, research, patient care, and community service
