The 13th Reunion of the Lonnie S. Burnett Vanderbilt Ob-Gyn Society is taking place at Vanderbilt University Medical Center today and Saturday.

Founded in 1989, the society includes more than 500 past and present Vanderbilt Ob-Gyn residents, faculty, fellows and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine graduates specializing in obstetrics and/or gynecology. It honors Dr. Lonnie S. Burnett, Frances and John C. Burch Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and former chair of the department.

Speaking today at 10:50 a.m. will be Dr. Alvin F. Goldfarb, a 1947 graduate of VUSM and the society’s 2001 distinguished alumnus. He publishes “The Women’s Health Letter,” distributed through doctors’ offices and is currently professor emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of Medical Education for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.
