Parents Weekend event to set attendance record

This weekend, a record number of parents and family members of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine students will be on hand for Parents Weekend.

The event, held every other year, is designed to give parents and family members a feel for student life at Vanderbilt and insight into the School of Medicine’s many educational programs and opportunities.

Nearly 800 parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and other assorted family members of medical students are expected to attend.

Parents Weekend events begin with a reception tonight at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel.

On Saturday, numerous programs and presentations on a variety of subjects will be held featuring School of Medicine faculty and students.

The weekend’s events will conclude Saturday night with dinner and a program at the Vanderbilt Recreation Center hosted by Dr. John E. Chapman, dean of the School of Medicine.
