Children cancer survivors from Middle Tennessee gathered at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere last week to participate in the Sixth Annual Pediatric Cancer Survivors Day.
Sponsored by Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, the event offers children a day of exploring the zoo, sharing their stories, and learning coping skills to live with cancer.
Trained animal handlers, who gave the children an up-close view of zoo inhabitants, were a highlight of the day.
