Hyundai Hope on Wheels awarded a $100,000 grant to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt to support research in chemotherapy. Pictured left to right are patients Cole Hindman, 12, Lili Childress, 3, and Lily Hensiek, 10, with Richard Ho, M.D., assistant professor of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and the 2011 Hyundai Scholar. The Hope grant was presented at a ceremony at Children’s Hospital where Nashville-area children battling cancer put their painted handprints on a canvas to represent each child’s personal triumph. Ho said the grant will be used to study how to improve the efficacy of chemotherapy in childhood cancer patients, while minimizing the toxicity of the treatment.
