Richard Peek, M.D., was named “Mentor of the Year,” and Jens Krause, M.D., received the “Postdoc of the Year” award during the symposium.
Peek, chief of the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, was honored by the postdoctoral association as a “phenomenal mentor and teacher,” and one who is “always eager to advance the careers of others.”
Krause, a fellow in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, was chosen by a faculty committee for his productivity – contributing to 11 publications in the past three years.
Best poster awards were given to Jason Dapper, Ph.D., Ophthalmology; Thomas Kehl-Fie, Ph.D., Microbiology & Immunology; Brian Lehmann, Ph.D., Biochemistry; Dmitry Markov, Ph.D., Biomedical Engineering; Ebany Martinez-Finley, Ph.D., Pediatric Toxicology; Sarika Saraswati, Ph.D., Pathology; Elaine Shelton, Ph.D., Cardiovascular Medicine; Brain Shonesy, Ph.D., Molecular Physiology & Biophysics; and Janice Williams, Ph.D., Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Cell Imaging Shared Resource.
Aubie Shaw, Ph.D., research fellow in Cancer Biology, won first place for best use of shared resources. Runners up were Kehl-Fie and Amanda Vanhoose, Ph.D., Molecular Physiology & Biophysics.
