Program takes on challenges associated with lung cancer

Individuals with lung cancer, their families, friends and health professionals are invited to Together, Facing Lung Cancer, on Thursday, Aug. 4.

This free program, on an eight-city tour, is hosted in Nashville by the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

Attendees will hear from Jimmie Holland, M.D., a nationally recognized expert in psycho-social oncology, and Alan Sandler, M.D., associate professor of Medicine and director of Thoracic Oncology at Vanderbilt-Ingram, about dealing with the emotional challenges of lung cancer and making decisions about treatment and care.

Together, Facing Lung Cancer will be held from 12:30 – 2 p.m. at the Vanderbilt University Student Life Center, 310 25th Ave., S.

Lunch will be provided.

The event is also being presented at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., the University of California San Francisco, the University of Colorado, the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, the University of Pittsburgh and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
