Race for the Cure happens Oct. 10

Race for the Cure happens Oct. 10

For the past two years Vanderbilt has won the title of Largest Corporate Team during the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event to benefit breast cancer research.

Now, team Vanderbilt needs as many as 300 participants to walk, run or pledge a donation in order for VU to hold on to its title at this year's fundraising event, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, at Maryland Farms in Brentwood, Tenn.

Some of the money raised by this annual Komen race is awarded to breast cancer investigators at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

At this year's event, the Race Village opens at 6:30 a.m., with the Service of Hope slated for 8 a.m., and the Parade of Pink at 8:15 a.m., at Maryland Way Park. The 5K race/walk lineup begins at 8:45 a.m. and the 1 mile Fun Walk/Run lineup starts at 9:15 a.m.
