Race for the Cure kickoff set for Aug. 25

The 2009 Race for the Cure is set for Saturday, Oct. 10, in Maryland Farms in Brentwood, and Vanderbilt is already organizing its team for the annual breast cancer fundraiser.

The kickoff breakfast for Team Vanderbilt is Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m., in the theater at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. During the free “Breakfast with Suzy,” participants will receive information about team preparations and registration.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the largest series of 5K runs and fitness walks in the world, attracting more than 1 million participants since 2005. The Komen Race for the Cure Series raises funds for breast cancer awareness and research, including scientific research at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
