Race set to raise funds for Shade Tree Clinic

Race set to raise funds for Shade Tree Clinic

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine's Advisory College Program is readying for the first annual Shade Tree Trot.

This 5K walk/run takes place at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 11. Starting on the Peabody Quad, the route will take runners and walkers throughout the Vanderbilt campus and end near the University Club.

All proceeds from the race go to support the free medical student-run Shade Tree Clinic, which serves the underserved population of East Nashville.

To help raise the competitive spirits of students, a giving tree has been placed in the North Lobby of Light Hall. Every time an Advisory College registers a runner, two ribbons will be added to the tree in that college's color. A “Drive for 5!” recruiting effort also encourages runners to seek individual sponsors. Top finishers and fund-raisers will receive awards.

Registration is $20 and includes a T-shirt and snacks and drinks at the finish line. To register, go to www.shadetreeclinic.org/trot. For more information please contact Brian Drolet at brian.c.drolet@vanderbilt.edu.
