Three publications from Vanderbilt Medical Center's Office of News and Public Affairs have received honors from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's (CASE) District III Awards Competition.
The awards were presented on Feb. 10 at the 2009 CASE District III Conference held in Atlanta.
CASE presents three levels of awards: the Grand Award — only one is awarded in each category; the Award of Excellence — up to four awarded in each category; and the Special Merit Award — up to five awarded in each category.
The Medical Center winners are as follows:
• “We Are All Connected,” the 2008 annual report of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, received a Grand Award in the Annual Reports I category. The annual report was edited by Jessica Ennis and designed by Diana Duren.
“We are so proud of Jessica and Diana for producing 'We Are All Connected,' a creative and inspiring look at how connections lead to better outcomes for the patients at Children's Hospital,” said Nancy Humphrey, director of VUMC Publications. “This is certainly not the first award they have received for their collaborations. They're a great team.”
• Momentum, the magazine of the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, received an award of Excellence in the Other Magazines category and a Special Merit Award in the Design for Print category. It was edited by Cynthia Manley and designed by Duren.
• Vanderbilt Medicine, the magazine of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, received an Award of Excellence in the Alumni Magazines I Category. It was edited by Humphrey and designed by Duren.
District III awards were also given to several university publications, including Vanderbilt Magazine, Vanderbilt View, and Arts and Science Magazine.
