As a thank you to the community for its support, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital held a street party called We Care for Kids Day on May 1. The event featured free fun and games for children and their families, a children’s show stage and a large music stage set up outside the hospital. An estimated 3,000 people attended. Photo 1) Kix Brooks brought out some big-named entertainers like Terri Clark, LeAnn Rimes, David Lee Murphy and others to the three-hour outdoor event. 2) Up-and-coming country music artist Aaron Lines also performed, and visited 19-month-old Sebastian Scott. 3) Lyndsey Stalerny, 9, played guitar in front of the main stage, entertaining the entertainers. 4) Angel Ewing, NICU case manager for Children’s Hospital and her daughter, Rebecca, far left, 10, meet hospital namesake Monroe Carell Jr. and Chancellor Gordon Gee, far right. 5) Unicyclist Rebel Bailey takes part in the festivities. The event, sponsored by First Tennessee Bank, is slated to be held again next fall.
