TLC show filmed at VUMC airs Dec. 27

Vanderbilt University Medical Center will receive national visibility when the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care and the Department of Emergency Medicine are featured on The Learning Channel (TLC) on Sunday, Dec. 27, at 7 p.m. when the cable channel airs the pilot episode of a new series titled, Emergency Level 1.
The episode will repeat at 10 p.m.

In addition to footage of trauma and emergency medicine practiced in real time, the show also features interviews with doctors, patients and computer-generated illustrations which take the viewer inside the body to demonstrate injuries and treatment protocols.

This episode — which will be rebroadcast on Thursday, Dec. 31, at 5 p.m. — is the first of three pilot episodes, all filmed at VUMC during September and early October.

The second episode is scheduled to air on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at 7 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. Updated information about air dates and times for future episodes will be made available through MyVUMC.

In the Middle Tennessee area, TLC is available on the following channels: Comcast HD — 214; Comcast Analog — 45; DISH Network — 183; Direct TV — 280; and Charter Cable — 28.
