U54 Cancer Partnership Retreat Set

“Women's Cancers and Survivorship” is the theme for this year's U54 Cancer Partnership retreat, which will be held at Meharry Medical College, Saturday, Oct. 6. Topics include ovarian cancer, BRAC1 regulation, issues in mammography screening and cancer survival disparity.

This year's Phillip Browning Memorial Lecture will be given by UCLA's Patricia Ganz, M.D., a leading figure in cancer prevention, quality of life and survivorship. Other presenters include Katherine Hartmann, M.D., VUMC; Dineo Khabele, M.D., Meharry; Carlos Arteaga, M.D., VUMC; Anne Washburn, VUMC; Howard Jones, M.D., VUMC; Andrew Desruisseau, M.D., VUMC; Sam Adunyah, M.D., Meharry; Alecia Malin Fair, DrPH, Meharry; and Marilyn Thompson, M.D., Meharry.

The retreat includes a poster session featuring cancer-related projects from investigators and students of Vanderbilt, Meharry and Tennessee State University. Prizes will be awarded to student participants.
