Andrej Lyshchik, M.D., Ph.D., research fellow in Radiology and Radiological Sciences, was recently honored with the New Investigator Award by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).

He received the award at the institute's annual meeting in New York City for his presentation “Quantification of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor-2 Expression Using Targeted Contrast-Enhanced High-Frequency Ultrasonography.”

In it, Lyshchik summarized results on preclinical applications of molecular high-frequency ultrasonography for imaging of tumor angiogenesis.

This novel imaging modality provides a method for noninvasive assessment of tumor perfusion and vascularity and can be successfully used in small animal models of cancer.

In addition, his research grant, entitled "Development of High Resolution Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Angiography," was funded by AIUM's Endowment for Education & Research.
