Vanderbilt partners with the Bone & Joint Clinic in Franklin
The Bone & Joint Clinic in Franklin is joining with the Vanderbilt Department of Orthopaedics to become Vanderbilt Bone & Joint.
This partnership will significantly expand the ability of the combined entity to serve patients and further enhance the quality care that both The Bone & Joint Clinic and Vanderbilt are known to deliver. It will become an important component of the Vanderbilt Orthopaedics Institute.
“After more than 30 years of service to Williamson County, The Bone and Joint Clinic is proud to announce our new association with Vanderbilt. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship that will allow us to continue our commitment to innovative excellence in orthopedics,” said Craig Ferrell, M.D., professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery.
Founded in 1979, the Bone & Joint Clinic has been serving patients in Williamson County for 30 years. It has a staff of 12 physicians and surgeons who care for orthopaedic problems in a range of specialties including: spine, sports medicine, total joint replacement, hand and upper extremity, pediatrics, trauma, foot and ankle and osteoporosis.
“We are very proud of our new faculty and staff,” said C. Wright Pinson, M.D., M.B.A., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs at Vanderbilt.
“The Bone & Joint group has an exceptionally strong community presence and brand identity within Williamson and surrounding areas. They are an elite, high quality group of practitioners. Vanderbilt Medical Group has been a part of the Williamson County community for more than 12 years with 535 providers and staff in VMG Williamson. This addition furthers our goal to provide the highest quality, integrated medical services available in the county.”
Vanderbilt Bone & Joint will continue to operate its clinic and ambulatory surgery center from the same convenient location at 206 Bedford Way in Franklin, Tenn.
Bringing the area’s top orthopaedic specialists together will expand services to patients, providing increased access to the latest, groundbreaking procedures and treatments. The partnership will also expand the breadth of Vanderbilt’s sub-specialty areas.
“Vanderbilt Bone & Joint is a superb orthopaedic group in Williamson County, and I personally know that they have taken expert care of their patients for over 25 years,” said Herbert Schwartz, M.D., chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.
“Many of their physicians have trained at Vanderbilt, so in some ways the partnership represents an extension of what we already do. The Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute looks forward to working with Drs. Ferrell, McNamara, Thomas, and others to not only continue to provide the very best orthopaedic care to our enlarging community but to also bring our signature brand of academic orthopaedic surgery to the mid-South.”
“It is with great pride that we have been able to merge Vanderbilt Orthopaedics with The Bone & Joint Clinic to create, we believe, the preeminent orthopaedic group in Middle Tennessee,” said David Posch, chief executive officer for The Vanderbilt Clinic. “We are working together to be able to coordinate outstanding orthopaedic care for the residents of Middle Tennessee, collaborate in teaching new physicians and conducting research in orthopaedic problems.”
Letters are being mailed to all current patients, which will include more details. More information is also available at www.vanderbiltboneandjoint.com.
