VCH publication earns national recognition

The magazine for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is finding itself among lofty company.

The League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) announced the spring 2006 issue of …on their way has been selected as the Platinum (top) award winner in its category for print publications.

The issue was listed in the overall top 100, and was ranked No. 52, among such powerhouse companies as Martha Stewart, Wells Fargo, Office Depot and J.D. Power and Associates. In the print/magazine category, …on their way beat ESPN The Magazine, among others, to take the top honors.

“This year's entry of …on their way proves to be remarkable in light of the tremendous competition,” said Christine Kennedy, LACP managing director. “More than 900 entries were received for the 2006 Spotlight Awards, comprising communications materials from seven countries.”

Children's Hospital publications have won several awards, including a silver medal in the 2005 Aster Awards and a 2006 Gold Medal in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) awards for Our Hospital, the hospital's inaugural annual report.

“I'm thrilled the efforts of our team were recognized in this competition,” said Jessica Ennis, publications editor. “It's particularly exciting that a small publication like …on their way could hold its own amongst some very large and well-known organizations.”
