The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center has received support from the American Cancer Society's Institutional Research Grant Pilot Project to award special funding to junior faculty members with an interest in cancer research.

The funds provide seed money to support cancer-related research by junior faculty members who do not have national grant support and have not received prior support from the Institutional Research Grant Project.

The American Cancer Society defines junior faculty as investigators at the rank of assistant professor or equivalent who are eligible to apply as a principal investigator for grant support from national agencies.

Faculty members with an interest in the psychosocial and behavioral aspects of cancer, as well as basic and clinical research, are encouraged to apply.

Funds are available to all schools of Vanderbilt University and allocations are limited to $20,000 or less.

The application deadline is Monday, Oct. 17.
