Video set to promote hand washing

Friday's episode of VUCast will feature the colorful, kid-friendly hand-hygiene campaign currently under way at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.

This is part of the “Clean Hands Save Lives” effort at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

At Children's Hospital, staff have been given buttons that say, “Ask me if I've washed my hands,” and reminder stickers have been placed on sinks and gel dispensers.

“Our motto is 'Every patient, every time, every entry, every exit.'
This means washing your hands every time you come into contact with a patient or their things,” said Paul Hain, M.D., medical director of Performance Management and Improvement.
