VMC Nursing Web site wins national award

The Vanderbilt Nursing Web site has won a World Wide Web Health Award in the category of medical communications.

The site, which launched in early 2007, has broadened in scope and readership thanks to the work by a team including Ryan Huber and Sherri Stringfellow. Last month, the site topped the 20,000-visitor mark.

In addition to serving as a portal for nurses interested in employment at Vanderbilt Medical Center, the Web site also serves as a hub for information for current Vanderbilt nurses with an updated calendar, announcements and upcoming event information, like the centralized activities for Nurses Week 2009.

The site is still expanding with several new auxiliary sites in the development stage. In the coming months, look for specific sites dedicated to diversity, research, evidence-based practice, nursing education resources and the Vanderbilt Professional Nursing Practice Program (VPNPP).
