VU named among top value schools

Vanderbilt University was lauded for combining excellent academics with great economic value by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance in its December issue.

Vanderbilt was ranked No. 19 in a list of the top 200 private universities.

The issue is scheduled to be on newsstands Nov. 8 and can be viewed online.

“The institutions on Kiplinger’s rankings for best value in private colleges represent schools that provide high-quality academics as well as affordable cost even in these tough times,” said Jane Bennett Clark, senior associate editor.

“With money tight and the college choice so important, you have every reason to expect the best bang for your buck.”

Criteria for the list included small class sizes, many financial aid options, high four-year graduation rate and low debt for students after graduation.

The top five schools on the list are Princeton, Yale, California Institute of Technology at Pasadena, Rice and Notre Dame.
