The Winter Vanderbilt University Medical Center Faculty Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 4 p.m. in 208 Light Hall.

Jeff Balser, M.D., Ph.D., vice chancellor for Health Affairs and dean of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, will update faculty on the Medical Center's major initiatives while highlighting new opportunities and the challenges ahead in 2011.
A major topic for discussion will be how VUMC is proactively addressing a radically changing landscape for federal funding in health care, science and education, including the National Institutes for Health (NIH), Medicare, and Medicaid.
This is a Medical Center-wide faculty meeting, and faculty from the Schools of Nursing, Medicine and throughout the campus working at VUMC are welcome and encouraged to attend. A reception follows in the North Lobby of Light Hall.
