The Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital admitted nearly 4,000 patients during the last fiscal year ending June 30.

In addition, the Vanderbilt Department of Psychiatry provides patient care and teaching at the Nashville Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Psychiatric Consultation-Liaison Service provides 24-hour coverage for the emergency department, medical and surgical services and outpatient clinics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Outpatient mental health services include:

• Vanderbilt clinics for adults, children and adolescents, and several school-based programs;

• The Vanderbilt Community Mental Health Center, located on the third floor of the Psychiatric Hospital and the Village at Vanderbilt on 21st Avenue;

• The Center of Excellence for Children in State Custody, located in the Village at Vanderbilt; and

• Clinical services for children with autism in collaboration with the Vanderbilt Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development.

Last year, the number of outpatient visits to the department's clinics and school-based programs exceeded 51,000.
