Julie Morath, R.N., M.S., chief quality and patient safety officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is featured among dozens of VUMC participants in a new documentary film narrated by actor Dennis Quaid called “Chasing Zero: Winning the War on Health Care Harm.”

The one-hour film — featuring faculty, staff and patients at VUMC, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital and hospitals in Europe — aired April 24 on the Discovery Channel, with repeat broadcasts May 1 and May 8 at 7 a.m.

In 2007, hospital personnel in California accidentally administered life-threatening adult doses of the blood thinner heparin to Quaid’s 12-day-old twins.

Today the Quaid twins are both healthy, and their parents have become patient safety advocates.
