Vanderbilt University Medical Center picked up a Diversity Recognition Award at the Premier Annual Breakthrough Conference held last month in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Premier is an organization of not-for-profit hospitals and health care systems that, among other activities, helps streamline and consolidate purchases of supplies.

The award recognizes hospital and health systems which, “as part of their social responsibility initiatives, have established active programs to evaluate and support minority, women-owned and veteran contracted suppliers available through the Premier contract portfolio,” said Gleatha Glispie, national director of business diversity for Premier.

VUMC was one of seven national winners of the diversity award, and was represented at the meeting by John Irvin, Vanderbilt's supplier diversity coordinator.
