VUSM student lands eye research grant

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine student Nguyen Khoi Ha is the recipient of a $25,000 grant from Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB), the world's leading voluntary organization supporting eye research.

The RPB Medical Student Eye Research Fellowship will enable him to take a year off from medical school to concentrate on research in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

He has been studying causes of vision loss in elderly Americans since spring 2005 while working in the Vanderbilt Eye Institute laboratory of Paul Sternberg, M.D chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, and Jiyang Cai, Ph.D., assistant professor of Medicine.
