VUSN Centennial Lecture to feature disaster aid leader

Vanderbilt University School of Nursing will kick off its yearlong Centennial Lecture Series with a special presentation on emergency preparedness by Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré on Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in Langford Auditorium.

Known as “the Rajun' Cajun,” Honoré provided leadership of the U.S. military response in the aftermath of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina and will speak about his experiences.

Honore's experience also includes planning the military response to the devastating flooding that swept Venezuela in 1999 and Mozambique in 2000. He also oversaw the military response to the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy and the D.C. sniper shootings.

The lecture is followed by a reception and both are free of charge. Attendees are asked to register online at www.nursing.vanderbilt.edu/centennial/events.html.
